4 Min Read

In a bold move to expand its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, Kia has revealed the EV3, the smallest model in its all-electric range. This new addition joins the EV6, EV9, and EV5, offering a compact yet technologically advanced option for eco-conscious drivers. The EV3 draws significant design and technological inspiration from the award-winning EV9, which recently clinched the 2024 World Car of the Year title.

Design and Dimensions

The EV3 exhibits a strong familial resemblance to its larger siblings, particularly the EV9. The front fascia features Kia’s signaturetiger nose” design, integrated with distinctive horizontal and vertical lighting elements. The chunky bumper, complete with air vents and ample plastic cladding, enhances its rugged appeal.

Measuring 4,300mm in length, 1,850mm in width, and 1,560mm in height, the EV3’s dimensions are comparable to the popular Kia Seltos. Its 2,680mm wheelbase ensures a spacious interior despite its compact exterior. The SUV’s side profile boasts futuristic design elements, geometric shapes, and robust plastic cladding. A sleek black strip running from the rear windows to the rear windshield gives the glasshouse a continuous, modern look. At the back, sculpted LED taillamps and a flat, vertical tailgate complete the contemporary design. The aerodynamic alloy wheels add a funky, yet practical touch.

Ferrari’s involvement underscores the luxury carmaker’s commitment to embracing sustainable solutions without compromising on performance and driving experience.

Interior and Features

Inside, the EV3 mirrors the luxurious feel of the flagship EV9. It features dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and driver information, complemented by a 5-inch display dedicated to climate controls. The flat floor design maximizes cabin space, enhancing comfort for all occupants. The central armrest includes a retractable table, while the seats offer a relaxation mode that allows full reclining.

Additional interior highlights include a 12-inch head-up display (HUD), ambient lighting, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, and Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). The EV3 also introduces an AI assistant, marking a first for Kia vehicles.

Powertrain and Battery

The Kia EV3 is available with two battery options: a 58.3kWh and an 81.4kWh unit. Both variants feature a front-axle-mounted electric motor producing 201bhp and 283Nm of torque, enabling a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds. The Long-Range variant boasts a WLTP range of 600km. Utilizing a 400V architecture, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes with a DC fast charger.
