Bollywood actor and BJP MP-elect from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, has alleged that she was slapped by a CISF security official at Chandigarh Airport. The incident, which has since gone viral on social media, occurred while Ranaut was en route to Delhi.

According to reports, the altercation took place around 3:30 PM. The CISF official involved has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur. The dispute reportedly arose after Ranaut made statements regarding farmers, a sensitive topic in the region due to the ongoing tensions from the 2020-2021 farmer agitation against the three farm laws.

Ranaut, known for her outspoken views, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video of herself detailing the incident. She captioned it, “Shocking rise in terror and violence in Punjab…,” and alleged that she was hit in the face and verbally abused by the CISF official. The video quickly garnered widespread attention and reactions.

In response to the incident, the CISF has suspended the woman constable involved and filed a complaint at the local police station for an FIR. “We have taken the matter seriously and an internal investigation is underway,” said a senior CISF officer, as quoted by ANI.

Upon her arrival in Delhi, Ranaut reportedly met with CISF Director General Nina Singh and other senior officials to discuss the incident. The video of the altercation has further intensified the debate around the actress-turned-politician’s contentious statements and their repercussions.

This is not the first time Ranaut has found herself in the eye of a storm. During the farmer protests, she misidentified a woman farmer from Punjab as Bilkis Bano, a prominent figure from the anti-CAA protests at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. Ranaut’s tweet claimed the “Shaheen Bagh Dadi” was present at the farmers’ protests and could be hired for Rs 100. The tweet, which included pictures of two elderly women, was later deleted after widespread backlash.

The incident at Chandigarh Airport adds another chapter to the series of controversies surrounding Ranaut. As the investigation proceeds, both public and political reactions continue to pour in, reflecting the polarized views on the actress and her statements.
