Broward County, FL – Authorities arrested singer Sean Kingston and his mother following a raid on Kingston’s Florida mansion. The arrests come as part of an ongoing investigation into numerous fraud and theft charges.

Sean Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, was apprehended Thursday by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office (BSO) at Fort Irwin, California. He faces several fraud and theft charges related to a warrant issued in Florida. Kingston, 34, was transported to a jail in San Bernardino, approximately 60 miles east of Los Angeles, where he will be booked.

Earlier that same day, Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, 61, was arrested at the artist’s Southwest Ranches home on multiple fraud charges. This home, located 22 miles northwest of Miami, is registered to a limited liability company, though court filings from February 2024 indicate Kingston resides there.

The investigation, initiated by deputies in the Dania Beach District of BSO along with the Strategic Investigations Unit and Davie Police SWAT, led to the issuance of arrest and search warrants. The raid was a result of ongoing probes that began in Dania Beach, uncovering fraudulent activities tied to both Kingston and his mother.

Among the allegations, Kingston is accused of defrauding VER VER Entertainment out of $150,000 related to an elaborate entertainment system featuring a 232-inch television. According to the complaint, Kingston persuaded the company to accept a reduced down payment and credit towards the purchase by promising to produce promotional videos with Justin Bieber, which never materialized.

Attorney Dennis Card, who has a civil case against Kingston, remarked on the singer’s deceptive practices. “He tells a story. He’s got basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here. This is a rental house, he doesn’t own it. And he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it. And then he simply never pays,” said Card.

This is not the first time Sean Kingston has faced legal troubles. In 2021, music video producer GXDLIKE accused Kingston of assault and making threats with a gun, allegations Kingston has denied. Additionally, a 2020 warrant for grand theft was issued against Kingston after he reportedly failed to pay for jewelry. Over the years, Kingston has been embroiled in several legal disputes with jewelers over unpaid debts.

Kingston’s history of legal issues extends back further. In 2016, he was involved in a fight where he was robbed of a $300,000 chain at a Los Angeles nightclub. In 2011, Kingston was seriously injured in a jet ski accident in Miami Beach, requiring heart surgery after doctors discovered a torn aorta during his treatment.

Sean Kingston rose to fame with hit songs such as “Beautiful Girls,” “Fire Burning,” and “Eenie Meenie,” and is known for his collaboration with major artists like Justin Bieber. The current investigation into his and his mother’s activities is ongoing, with more developments expected as authorities continue their probe.
